West African Drumming, Song and Dance

Kennel Lane Special School

Over a period of 8 weeks, we delivered regular workshops and small scale, intimate performances/demonstrations to children from Foundation to Sixth Form via Key Stages 1, 3 and 4, for groups of mixed abilities. On the last day, we were joined by cellist Jenny Adejayan, with whom we performed two full 45 minute sets of music with interactive elements to two different parts of the school. This was the feedback we received afterwards:

"…All our pupils have special needs, but Alicia, Bucarr, and Doudou were able to communicate with the children and pitched the level just right. The pupils responded with complete enjoyment and participation. I would have no hesitation in recommending the Baobab Tree team to any school, college or environment where they would be working with young and vulnerable people. They conducted themselves in an entirely appropriate manner at all times and made friends with staff and students."
