  • Ice-breaker sessions for conferences and in-house events
  • Stress-busting fun

PERFORMANCE FOR EVENTS, PROMOTIONS, AND ENTERTAINMENT

Bucarr West African music and dance is perfect for promotional events of all kinds, whether in the form of dramatic, costumed, drum-based spectacles or contemplative, melodic performances led by the Kora, West Africa’s traditional harp/lute and accompanied by Western instruments such as guitar, double bass, and cello. It makes great entertainment, and is ideal to open, close, or punctuate an event.

CORPORATE WORKSHOPS IN AFRICAN DRUMMING

There are few better feelings than being part of a dynamic and powerful musical ensemble! African drumming in a corporate setting has been shown to be a valuable tool for challenging and inspiring a workforce by developing listening, coordination and performance skills, proving that even the most resolutely un-musical can participate in an enjoyable creative event.

In the expert hands of our educator/performers, the team will relax and learn to enjoy overcoming resistance to going outside their ‘comfort zone’. An African drumming event challenges preconceptions, stimulates right-brain (creative) activity, relieves stress, and is a tremendous leveller, resulting in greater co-operation and team spirit. Some have enjoyed the experience so much they have bought drums and decided to take up African drumming as a stress-busting hobby!

Our techniques:

  • Creating a relaxed atmosphere
  • Demonstrating the basics
  • Experiential Learning with body percussion
  • Hands-on participation with calls and responses
  • Developing more complex rhythms, signals, breaks
  • Playing Polyrhythms

.."Thank you very much for the drum and dance workshops… they were inspirational, stimulating, and enjoyable.."

‘INSPIRING CREATIVITY’ WORKSHOPS

Alicia Our ‘Inspiring Creativity’ sessions set up small teams of 4-5 people, placing each team with a musician and a selection of their instruments. The team are given the task of creating a piece of music from scratch, with minimal guidance from the musicians. The object is to see how they adapt to circumstances, overcoming the fact that they themselves are not musicians to produce a performance piece that will entertain and inform their colleagues. Organisations are welcome to have the teams monitored by their own workplace psychologists/NLP practitioners in order to document individual responses to the challenge provided.
